Speaking with a Deaf Person: Conceptual Campaign
Speaking with a deaf person requires you to be clear, direct, non-distracting and in some cases – in an environment that is quiet or doesn’t amplify echo. Problems arise for many deaf lip-readers or people who use hearing aids because many non-deaf people aren’t aware of this. This results in a lack of verbal understanding on the part of the deaf of hearing person which can be immensely frustrating and difficult.
It is for this reason that I wanted to create a piece of design work that makes members of the public aware of this reality and what they can do to make the process easier. So, I produced a conceptual campaign which promotes the appropriate ways to speak with a deaf or hard of hearing person.
